Liverpool are set to hold showdown talks with Mohamed Salah over his plans to play for Egypt in the upcoming Olympic Games.
The Liverpool forward is keen to play in the men’s tournament which will take place at the Games in Tokyo.
However, it could lead to Salah missing the start of the Premier League season with Liverpool, with the Olympics ending just a week before the start of the 2021/22 campaign on August 14.

Egyptian FA chief Ahmed Megahed wants Salah to represent his nations at this summer’s tournament.
Speaking to local television, as per the Sun he said: ‘Liverpool management replied to our message saying that they [will] discuss the situation with the player.
‘I am sure that Salah is eager to wear the Pharaohs’ jersey while participating in the Olympics if he could but it’s not his own decision to make as he needs to discuss it with the club’s management.
‘I hope Liverpool accept our request.’

If Salah is allowed to play at the Olympics, he could miss up to six weeks of pre-season training.
Salah has once again thrown his Liverpool future into doubt by admitting he would be interested in a move to Spain.
The Egyptian forward stunned the Reds back in December when he admitted he would be open to joining La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Salah, 28, has become a star at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp since joining from Roma in 2017, scoring 119 goals in 192 appearances on his way to claiming the Champions League and Premier League titles.

He is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and, in an interview with Marca, Salah has admitted that it is possible he could leave Anfield for a move to Spain in the future.
When asked if he is keen to experience Spanish football, Salah, who is currently on international duty with Egypt, said: ‘I hope to be able to play for many more years.
‘Why not? No one knows what’s going to happen in the future.
‘So… maybe one day, yes. It’s not up to me.
‘We’ll see what happens but I prefer not to talk about that now.’
