Salah keen to avenge Liverpool’s defeat to Real Madrid in Champions League final
Mohamed Salah is eager to avenge Liverpool's agonising Champions League defeat to Real Madrid by beating Los Blancos in this year's final.
The Egyptian King, 29, was forced off the pitch when the sides met in Kyiv for the crowning of Europe's most elite – as the Reds aimed for title number six. Salah lasted just half an hour in the Ukrainian capital after injuring his shoulder when challenged by Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
Not helped by two high-profile blunders from goalkeeper Loris Karius – uncoincidentally his final outing for Liverpool – Jurgen Klopp's men suffered a 3-1 defeat in Salah's absence. But now the Premier League's top scorer is keen to requite the result should the Reds face the newly-crowned Spanish Champions in Paris.
"I want to play Madrid; I have to be honest. [Manchester] City is a really tough team, we played against them a few times this season," Salah told BT Sport.
"I think personally, I would prefer Madrid. We lost in the final to them so I want to play against them, and hopefully win it."
Liverpool booked their spot in the 2022 Champions League final on Tuesday evening after overcoming a spirited fightback from Villarreal. Despite claiming a comfortable 2-0 victory at Anfield, the Reds surrendered their advantage inside the opening 45 minutes with the aggregate score level at half-time.

However, January signing Luis Diaz was once again the inspiration for Jurgen Klopp's side and – helped by a calamitous 15-minute spell for Yellow Submarine goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli – Liverpool turned the game on its head to seal a spot in Paris on May 28.
The Reds will discover their Champions League final opponents on Wednesday (May 4) evening when Manchester City travel to the Bernabeu with a slender one-goal cushion.
In a high-octane encounter at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola's side walked away with a 4-3 lead and will undoubtedly need to show the same goalscoring prowess in Madrid to bag a showdown against their Premier League rivals.
