Salah details crunch Liverpool talks and tough season at Anfield

Mohamed Salah has opened up on Liverpool's tough season at Anfield – and has revealed crunch talks have been held by the captains at the club.

Liverpool's title defence has been non-existent this term and Jurgen Klopp's men now find themselves in a fight to make the top four.

Admittedly, the Reds have been hampered by an unusually high number of injuries – including Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have filled in at the back regularly but even those two were unable to escape Liverpool's injury curse, with the former missing the past 11 games and is a doubt to return before the season's end.

But despite all of Liverpool's struggles, Salah has kept up his incredibly high scoring standards, netting 29 goals in all competitions.

That doesn't mean to say, however, he hasn't found things tough.

"I think it is hard," he told Premier League Productions ahead of this weekend's crunch fixture against Manchester United. "The pressure is higher and higher and it’s more difficult for us because now you just feel like you have to win every game.

"But I think what we can do is take one game at a time and just focus on it and don’t think about the other four games.

"Man United is a really big game and everybody in the world is waiting for that game. I think it means for Man United a lot to beat us as well, to stop us playing in the Champions League. I understand that but for us it is more motivation.

"It’s one of the biggest games – I would love to play it all the time!"

He added: "We started the season really well and everybody was saying we were going to win the Premier League again, and since we started to drop points you start to feel the pressure more… you feel ‘now we’re going to lose it, we’re going to lose the Premier League’ and the pressure comes higher and higher.

"And we had the injuries: we lost Hendo in his position, we lost Fabinho in his position and of course we lost all the centre-backs, so it was tough for us to handle that."

Salah went on to confirm that captains Henderson and James Milner have even called meetings at times in an attempt to address the side's form.

"We had a couple of meetings before and we were talking about everything," he said. "Some of the captains were talking about the situation and everything, but that is something private. I can’t talk about it here!

"We are team-mates and we are good friends as well. We are a group, so I think our relationship is good between all of us. I can see the players here are very humble and very nice, so I think we are a nice group."
