Saint-Maximin hits out at FIFA for giving Steve Bruce ’99 pace’ after viral clip

Newcastle United's star winger Allan Saint-Maximin has hit out at EA for giving Steve Bruce more pace than him on FIFA 22.

The Frenchman sent out the cheeky tweet in response to a viral video from the video game of Bruce, 60, sprinting past the bench onto the field.

The clip was the base of jokes online, but one fan pointed out: "What’s even more unrealistic is Almiron scoring a goal."

EA replied to the video by simply tweeting: "99 Pace confirmed," the maximum stat that can be achieved in the game.

And Saint-Maximin joked: "Can you explain [to] me @EASPORTSFIFA why did you give me 91 pace and 99 pace to Steve Bruce?"

Despite his newfound speed, Bruce has fallen under criticism from the Newcastle faithful in recent weeks.

The Magpies have only avoided a spot in the relegation zone through their superior goal difference, and they are yet to win this season.

And the boss responded to 'Bruce out' chants after their weekend fixture: "It's difficult – but that's all it is, noise. I'm just going to get on with my job. Try to do the job as best I can.

"We have the makings of a half-decent team. We have half a dozen missing.

"I can see us progressing, where others can't, but certainly I can."

Meanwhile, Saint-Maximin has been rated as one of the quickest players in the Premier League on the title.

EA have given higher ratings to Dan James and Adama Traore, who are the joint quickest with 96 pace, Ismaila Sarr, Patson Daka, Leon Bailey, and Kyle Walker.

Walker was the victim of a practical joke when Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden presented him with a fake set of stats.

And the full-back was visibly annoyed with his pace rating on the fake card.
