Rylan Clark thanks Real Madrid fans for ‘lovely tribute’ to ex-This Morning host
Rylan Clark thanked Real Madrid fans after they unveiled a banner that looked suspiciously like the former This Morning host.
Los Blancos supporters wanted to pay tribute to goalscoring hero Karim Benzema before their Champions League semi-final second leg against Manchester City on Wednesday night. But their attempt at a homemade tifo celebrating the French forward was met by some interesting responses on social media.
One account joked the banner was a: "Lovely tribute to Rylan Clark from the Real Madrid fans." While someone else, riffing on Rylan's work for used car firm Cinch, added: "He's only gone and Cinched it."
Rylan wouldn't be known as the world's biggest football fan. But he joined in the fun after seeing the sign, cheekily tweeting "Gracias", much to the amusement of his followers.
Social media users loved it, including one who wrote: "That's true to scale, he is very tall." Another person joked: "Top class (from a Liza Tarbuck fan)."

"Man City didn’t bottle it, Madrid just cinched it," joked another. While someone else praised Rylan and said: "Rylan is quickly becoming my favourite football account on here."
It's not the first time the former X Factor contestant has dipped his toe into the world of football in the last few weeks. In his role as the face of SPFL sponsors Cinch, Rylan has taken to Twitter to congratulate the respective Scottish champions.
Scottish minnows Kelty Hearts, Cove Rangers and Scottish Championship winners Kilmarnock have all received messages of support from the 33-year-old after winning promotion.
Playing on the firm's catchphrase, Rylan has congratulated each of them with a tweet saying: "Cinched it, fellas." In response, a group of Kilmarnock fans paraded a cardboard cut-out of the TV star around the concourse during their match against Raith, singing: "There's only one Rylan Clark."
One fan tweeted the clip to Rylan, who replied: "This is getting out of hand," with a series of cry laughing emojis. Maybe Rylan really is the new face of football.
