Roy Keane says Paul Pogba "needs a reminder why he’s at Man Utd" in fresh attack

Roy Keane has taken a fresh swipe at Paul Pogba and insisted the midfielder “needs a reminder of why he’s playing for Manchester United”.

Pogba has dominated the headlines this week after hitting out at former United boss Jose Mourinho in a fascinating interview with Sky Sports, claiming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a warmer relationship with his players.

The France international also opened up on his partnership with Bruno Fernandes and his desire to end United’s four-year wait for silverware this season.

He has played a key part in their run to the Europa League semi-finals, where they will meet Roma next month.

However, Keane does not believe Pogba is deserving of much praise this season, hitting out at the £89million star for his lack of consistency.

“I think we’ve all discussed many times over the last few years, Paul Pogba is a talented player, absolutely, there’s no getting away from that,” the United legend said.

“But I still feel he hasn’t done enough at Man United.

“He obviously fell out with Mourinho, that was a big problem at the club, but even the last few months, we’re saying he’s had a big influence, I wouldn’t agree with that.

“I think he’s playing OK and he’s a good player, but I still look in some of the big crunch games United have had this year, he hasn’t turned up.

“It’s not just his fault, but they lost at Leicester, which was a big cup game for them, Man City at home, he didn’t perform that night.

“So I think Paul needs a bit of a reminder why he’s playing for Manchester United.”

“They paid a big transfer fee, big wages for the likes of him for Man United to be competing and winning league titles, Champions Leagues.

“Even this year in the Champions League they got in a great position and they blew it and Paul Pogba is part of that problem because they’ve not got over the lines in the big games.

“We say he’s a big character and a big player, and OK he’s done brilliant with France, but for me he’s not done it on a consistent basis at Manchester United.”
