Roy Keane has ‘huge regrets’ over bin-jumping celebration in ITV vs BBC clash

Roy Keane has admitted he has huge regrets over his celebrations during a kick-about between ITV and BBC pundits.

The Manchester United legend scored the winner in a friendly match between the two broadcasters, slotting past Micah Richards who was in goal. And the former midfielder was even criticised for his over-zealous celebrations – tearing his shirt off and jumping over a wheelie bin.

It comes after Keane shredded Brazilian stars for dancing in jubilation after scoring against South Korea, which led to him being denounced by the country's fans. But while some tore into Keane for his celebrations, he had a few regrets of his own.

Speaking on ITV prior to England's game against France, he said: "I’m feeling it today, my knee's been really sore the last few days so huge regrets jumping the bin but a huge goal for ITV, very proud of it."

Just days before, Keane had launched a verbal tirade against Brazil for their dancing celebrations against South Korea. The Selecao, who have since been knocked out by Croatia, were four goals up by half-time and were in fiesta mode.

Keane had fumed: "Fantastic finish by Vinicius, great start to the game. But I've never seen so much dancing. I can't believe what I'm watching, I can't believe what I'm watching, it's like watching Strictly [Come Dancing].

"I don't like this. People say it's their culture. But I think that's really disrespecting the opposition."

Meanwhile, Jordan Pickford has insisted he is ready for penalties should England have to go down that route.

He said: "It's all part of my process and what I do. I just have a look at them and see how they're feeling. But they've got their process as a penalty-taker and as a goalkeeper and it's whoever comes out on top on that individual penalty.

"You can do research but it is about executing your process, your dive on the night. Hopefully, we don't get to penalties. Hopefully we get the win in 90 minutes."
