Roy Keane claims three Manchester United players 'aren't good enough' for club

Roy Keane claimed three players ‘aren’t good enough’ for Manchester United after their humbling derby defeat to Manchester City.

Eric Bailly’s own goal and a Bernardo Silva tap-in on the stroke of half-time saw Premier League champions Man City cruise past Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at Old Trafford.

It was another demoralising defeat for the Red Devils, who have now lost four of their last six league games, including a 5-0 battering against Liverpool and a 4-2 defeat to Leicester City.

‘It felt worse [than the defeat to Liverpool],’ Keane told Sky Sports. ‘The goal just before half-time meant it was game all over.

‘Man City are a different type of team to Liverpool. They were quite happy just to keep the ball and they just toyed with Man Utd.

‘It was so poor. The difference in class, quality and decision making, basically everything.

‘I know the old saying is men vs boys, but United are so off it, it’s unbelievable.’

Keane felt Manchester United’s defeat was further evidence that midfielders Fred and Scott McTominay and defender Bailly ‘aren’t good enough’ for the club.

He added: ‘It’s just so poor. I look for characters. [Scott] McTominay and Fred… I know McTominay is learning his trade, but these players aren’t good enough for Manchester United.

‘Defensively, I wasn’t shocked when [Eric] Bailly sliced one into his own net, he’s got that in him, he’s erratic.

‘Fred’s playing for Manchester United… Fred! Anyone who thinks he’s good enough for United is in cuckoo land.’

🗣 “It was always going to be a difficult game anyway…”

Manchester City star Phil Foden, meanwhile, said his team had the ‘game of their lives’ as they outclassed Unites and bounced back from last weekend’s shock defeat to Crystal Palace.

He said: ‘We had the game of our lives today. Everything went right, a lot of possession and chances. We dominated from start to finish. Really pleased.

‘We got in at half time and said we had to keep up the possession game and I thought we did that really well.

‘Massive confidence going into the international break – important to get the win before that. Delighted. It was very important to get back to winning ways.’
