Ross Barkley has returned to the Premier League by joining Luton Town – and shocked fans think it's a parody.
The former Chelsea midfielder has made the move to Kenilworth Road on a free having spent last season in France with Nice. Now 29, the England ace last featured in England's top tier the season before last, making a handful of appearances for the Blues.
The transfer to Premier League new-boys Luton is subject to international clearance and comes in time for the Hatters' opener at Brighton. Though fans were left a bit stunned.
One amazed Luton fan simply posted on social media: "Is this a parody account? What have I just watched." While another added: "Omfg that was unexpected."

Barkley has earned 33 England caps and played at the 2014 World Cup for the Three Lions. He will wear No6 at Luton as he looks to add to his 200-plus Premier League appearances.
Barkley said: “Why Luton? Going from the Conference to the Premier League is a great story and for me personally to be back in the Premier League, it’s great motivation.
“I’m still relatively young and over the last couple of years I’ve not played as much as I’d have liked.

“But I’ve reserved a lot of energy and looked after myself, so it’s great to be here now as I’ve got a lot to show but I’m ready and feeling motivated.”
While Luton manager Rob Edwards said: “Ross brings loads of experience at the top level, has international experience and brings an x-factor.
“He gives us something different, he has that ability to make something out of nothing and we need that in the Premier League. He’s got all the tools required to make a difference for us.
“It’s really exciting for the football club. We want the fans to be excited and they should be about Ross’ arrival.”
