Ronaldo shares ‘pain and uncertainty’ as ex-Man Utd star mourns World Cup exit
Cristiano Ronaldo posted a cryptic story on his Instagram page suggesting he is not ready to call time on his career.
The ex-Manchester United ace’s World Cup hopes were ended by a shock 1-0 defeat to Morocco in the quarter-finals. At the age of 37-years-old, it is very likely Qatar will be his last ever tournament.
Ronaldo will now be shifting his attention to finding a new club, with his contract at United being torn up during the World Cup. However, the disappointment of Portugal’s shock defeat and the situation at United does not appear to have poured cold water over his motivation.

In a story on Instagram, Ronaldo posted a picture of a sign that says, "3 aspects of reality. Pain, uncertainty and constant work." While the Portuguese ace regularly divides opinion, there is no questioning his unfathomable commitment to his fitness and performance.
After his side’s exit to the North Africans, Ronaldo posted a lengthy statement admitted his World Cup dream had “ended”. "Winning a World Cup for Portugal was the biggest and most ambitious dream of my career,” he began on Instagram.
“Fortunately, I won many titles of international dimension, including for Portugal, but putting the name of our country on the highest level in the world was my biggest dream. I fought for it. I fought hard for this dream.

“In the 5 appearances that I scored in World Cups over 16 years, always alongside great players and supported by millions of Portuguese people, I gave my all. I left everything on the field. I never turned my face to the fight and I never gave up on that dream.
"Unfortunately, yesterday the dream ended. It is not worth reacting to heat." Ronaldo became the first ever player to score in five consecutive World Cups when he lashed a penalty home against Ghana.
However, Portugal were never able to better their performance in 2006, when they reached the semi-final of the World Cup in Germany.
