Manchester United outcast Cristiano Ronaldo has been labelled ‘sensible and down to earth’ by one of his former coaches.
The Portuguese star has been embroiled in drama over the past week after the release of his bombshell interview, in which the United star slammed the current state of the club.
He’s faced an immense amount of backlash for his decision to do the interview but Jose Morais – Jose Mourinho’s former assistant manager at Real Madrid – insists the forward is ‘sensible and down to earth’.

Jose Morais – who worked with Ronaldo for three years – called him ‘sensible and down to earth’
Speaking to A Bola, Morais said: ‘Working with Cristiano was one of the best moments I have as a coach. He is a fantastic person and a stratospheric player.
‘I don’t say “UFO” because he is a human being. He would be more of a “Human of Unidentified Characteristics”. Such is the enormity of his ability and talent.
‘To have a player like him, is to be a blessed coach. Cristiano is, without a doubt, a sensible and down to earth person.’
Morais spent three years working with Ronaldo during their time together at Real Madrid, where he managed to score a staggering 168 goals during that period.

Morais said Ronaldo needs ‘a special coach’ who can ‘deal with situations like this one’
On Ronaldo’s current situation, Morais said: ‘I’m just saying that you have to be a special coach to train special players.
‘Being a special coach implies knowing how to deal with situations like the one that is happening. Positive communication.
‘The establishment of trust depends on factors that relate to the individual’s personal development. The best coach is better able to deal with these situations.’
Morais echoes the sentiments put forward by Ronaldo, who voiced his issues with current boss Erik ten Hag and also mentioned previous concerns with Ole Gunnar Solkjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
He said: ‘I don’t have respect for him [ten Hag] because he doesn’t show respect for me. Some people, they don’t want me here – not only the coach but the other two or three guys. Not only this year, but last year too.’

As the interview continued, Ronaldo also urged fans to continue their protest against the Glazers’ ownership.
He said: ‘The fans, they’re always right. I think the fans should know the truth – should now that the players… we want the best for the club.
‘I want the best of the club. This is why I am coming to Manchester United. This is why I love this club.
‘You have some things inside the club which don’t help Manchester (United) reach the top level as City, Liverpool and even now Arsenal, for example… which is complicated, it’s difficult.
