Ronaldo has already ‘made feelings clear’ on Chelsea target Enrique
Interim boss Bruno Saltor on 'tough' 24 hour period for Chelsea
Cristiano Ronaldo supposedly made his feelings clear on one of Chelsea’s top managerial targets, Luis Enrique, during his time at Manchester United. Blues co-owner Todd Boehly may wish to listen to the Portuguese’s advice if he is to stand a chance of luring him to Stamford Bridge.
United’s 2021 manager hunt was well publicised as a host of high-profile names were linked with Old Trafford before Ralf Rangnick was ultimately appointed on an interim basis, in a spell which turned out to be disastrous.
Enrique was among those rumoured to have admirers at United, and reports at the time indicated that Ronaldo championed the Spaniard’s appointment. That came as a surprise to many given Ronaldo’s affiliation with Real Madrid and Enrique’s history at Barcelona, with the ex-United star even thought to favour him over Zinedine Zidane.
Boehly may wish to push for Enrique on that basis, with previous interest in Ronaldo supposedly persisting as he looks to build a blockbuster side at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea wasted £42m on Graham Potter despite avoiding nightmare payout [LATEST]
Chelsea were rumoured to be weighing up a swoop for Ronaldo last summer, but former boss Thomas Tuchel supposedly vetoed the deal as the Blues swooped for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead.
The former Arsenal striker was then frozen out of the team by Tuchel’s replacement, Graham Potter, who himself was sacked by Boehly at the weekend, serving as another symbol of Chelsea’s tumultuous season. Ronaldo eventually became the highest-paid footballer of all time at Al-Nassr, although it remains to be seen whether he could be lured back to Europe with a tempting offer.

Enrique is among the front-runners to take over in west London after leaving his role as Spain boss following their disappointing World Cup exit. The 52-year-old also has experience with Roma and Celta Vigo, although he found most success at the Nou Camp, where he won the Champions League in 2014/15.
Axed Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann is also in the running to take over from Potter, although an appointment is not expected to be made until the summer. In the meantime, stand-in manager Bruno Saltor is preparing the side to face Liverpool on Tuesday.
“It’s been really difficult, at every single level, especially emotionally,” he told reporters. “You have to do the press conference, you have to deal with the players – it’s hard.
“My relationship with Graham and [assistant coach] Billy [Reid], and how it affects families – it’s difficult to deal with that. It’s a sad day for the staff because Graham and Billy are two top coaches and top human beings. I have to be as professional as I can and try to help and guide the players. I’m just focusing on what I can control and going day by day.”
