Ronaldo fails to train with Man Utd first team again after missing derby defeat
Cristiano Ronaldo was absent from Manchester United's main training session for a third consecutive day on Tuesday as the fallout from the derby defeat to Manchester City rumbles on.
Ronaldo missed United's 4-1 defeat at the Etihad with a hip problem and opted to fly to Lisbon rather than watch his team-mates in action against their neighbours.
It is understood the Portuguese star returned to England on Monday evening, which meant he missed a training session the day after the defeat meant for non-playing members of the squad.
He was pictured driving into the training ground for Tuesday's session, along with the likes of Edinson Cavani, David De Gea and Scott McTominay.
But a decision was reportedly made for Ronaldo not to train with the group as he continues his recovery from the hip issue that ruled him out of the Manchester derby, as per the Telegraph.
Sky Sports pundit and Old Trafford hero Roy Keane questioned the authenticity of Ronaldo's injury before kick-off on Sunday, saying: "We talk about Ronaldo being a machine and very rarely getting injured… it doesn't add up to me."
Ronaldo's sister, Katia Aveiro, added fuel to the fire after she appeared to like an Instagram post claiming the star was not injured and was in fact dropped by Ralf Rangnick.
Rangnick responded to Keane's claims after the defeat at the Etihad.

"I have to believe my medical department," the United interim boss insisted.
"My doctor came to see me on Friday morning before training and told me Cristiano Ronaldo cannot train because of some problems with his hip flexor and the same was true on Saturday and that's why he couldn't be part of the squad."
United have not yet commented on whether Ronaldo's surprise trip to Portugal was given the green light by the club.
The 37-year-old is currently on one of the worst goalscoring runs of his career, with just one goal in his last ten matches.
It is not clear whether he will participate with the main group during Wednesday's training session.
