Ronaldo and Al Nassr hammered 5-0 in pre-season — with ex-Man Utd star subbed
Cristiano Ronaldo was subbed off during Al-Nassr’s embarrassing 5-0 defeat against La Liga side Celta Vigo in a pre-season friendly on Monday night.
The Saudi Pro League side were left humiliated in their pre-season game in Faro which saw ex-Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic make his debut.
With Ronaldo playing the first 45 minutes, the score at half-time was goalless before a second-half onslaught by Rafa Bentiez’s team left the Saudi side red-faced.
Gael Alonso opened the scoring for Celta before a double from Miguel Rodriguez and Jorgen Strand Larsen had the scoreline at 5-0 by the 75th minute.

Despite the Saudi Pro League taking over the transfer market and believed to be posing a threat to the reputation of leagues such as La Liga, as they bring in stars from across the top five European leagues, they were hammered by the team that finished 13th in Spain’s top flight last season.
Both Ronaldo and £18million signing Brozovic were off the pitch by the time Celta opened the floodgates, with Abdeulelah Al Amri sent off just three minutes into the second half for Al-Nassr.

Al-Nassr suffered their first defeat of pre-season after previously beating Portuguese sides Farense and Alverca last week.
But losing in such a manner to Celta Vigo, who were playing their first game of pre-season, is not the hope they had going into the game.
Amid all the spending from Saudi clubs this summer, Al-Nassr were previously imposed with a transfer ban from FIFA, but now it has been lifted, the reaction on and off the pitch in the transfer market to such a defeat will be interesting.
Al-Nassr coach Luis Castro now has to pick his players up with them facing Portuguese champions Benfica on Thursday, they will later play PSG and Inter Milan as they continue their pre-season preparations.
