Romelu Lukaku got his second spell at Chelsea off to a fine start on Sunday as he struck a debut goal to open the scoring in his side’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal – and he was full of praise for two of his team-mates afterwards. Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge this summer in a deal worth £97.5million.
The Belgium striker looked dangerous all afternoon for Chelsea on Sunday and struck from close range after 15 minutes following good work from Reece James.
And Lukaku could have had a second after the break, only to see an inspired Bernd Leno tip his bullet header onto the crossbar.
Chelsea’s second victory of the season catapulted them up to top spot in the Premier League as they look to launch an assault on the title.
And, following the match, Lukaku was quick to praise his new team-mates Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.
The duo started the game just behind Lukaku and linked up well with the powerhouse forward on a day to remember in north London.

“It was great – we had great combinations,” Lukaku told Chelsea TV about his partnerships with Havertz and Mount.
“Those boys are very talented, very hungry.
“I feel blessed to be in this situation, that I have many, many players whom I can link up with in the team.
“The coach has a lot of players at his disposal, so it’s up to us to make sure that we train well.

Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge this summer seven years after departing the club to join Everton for £28m.
His form at Goodison Park took him to Manchester United, where he enjoyed a stellar debut campaign before struggling for form during his second season at Old Trafford.
He fell out of favour at United and was shipped off to Inter Milan, where he rediscovered his mojo to help the side storm to their first Serie A title in over a decade.
Lukaku was set to stay in Italy this summer but the lure of Chelsea proved too much and he returned to the club ahead of the new season.
The striker looked at home during his first outing for the Blues since August 2013 and could well be the man to lead Chelsea to their first Premier League title since 2017.
The west Londoners’ 58 Premier League goals last season was their lowest tally since the turn of the century.
Jorginho was the side’s top scorer in the league with just seven goals – but it could be a completely different story this season if Lukaku continues to excel in front of goal.
