Chelsea are edging closer to welcoming Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge – seven years after he swapped west London for Merseyside.
The Belgian international left the Blues to join Everton in 2014 in the hope of getting more game time.
Aged just 21, Lukaku signed a five-year-deal at Goodison Park, where he became a fan favourite under his current national boss Roberto Martinez.
But after becoming one of the most valuable strikers in world football during his time at Manchester United and Inter Milan, Chelsea now want the accomplished 28-year-old back.
Lukaku helped fire Inter to the Serie A title last season as the Nerazzurri finally ended the domestic dominance of Juventus in Italy.
But Inter are in financial difficulty meaning they will be forced to make a big sale this summer and Lukaku is the most likely exit.
And according to the Guardian, Lukaku is excited by a new challenge at the European champions under new boss Thomas Tuchel.
When Lukaku left Chelsea in 2014, he had no regrets and was determined to develop as a starting striker.
"In football you don’t have regrets,” he said after signing for Everton.
“Sometimes choices are made. Mr Martínez will be one of the top managers in the world and to play under him now, and for such wonderful fans, is an honour.
"We have a lot of young players who want to be part of one of the best teams in England.
“I don’t have any regrets. I am very happy with the choices I’ve made.

He continued: "Sometimes things like this happen in football. Sometimes it’s not meant to be.
"Chelsea are a big club and when I arrived I was 18. I was very ambitious.
"They taught me how to be a professional, a work ethic and a winning mentality. It is a great football club. I wouldn’t say anything bad about that club but I didn’t want to on the bench for 10 years.”
Now a world class centre forward, Lukaku could complete a return to the place where he first made his name in England.
The Guardian's report adds that Chelsea are hoping Inter will accept a mammoth €120m (£102m) offer for Lukaku, and he could earn £250,000-per-week at the club should a deal be completed.
