Roma’s Jose Mourinho wants to provide Man Utd with two summer transfer solutions
Manchester United are eager to trim their squad this summer, and could be willing to do business with former boss Jose Mourinho, who is eyeing up two Red Devils stars ahead of taking over at Roma.
Mourinho is set to replace Paulo Fonseca for the 2021/22 season onwards, and is already starting to put plans into place.
The Portuguese boss, who was sacked by Tottenham last month, is eyeing up two United players ahead of the summer window, reports suggest.
The first player he is looking at, according to Todofichajes, is David de Gea, who seems destined to leave before long after falling out of favour.
Dean Henderson has usurped him as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first choice, and United chiefs are keen to get the Spaniard's £350,000 weekly wage off the books.
De Gea is still under contract for another two years – with a contract for a third – but it seems he could be on his way this summer.
It's unclear how much money Mourinho will have at his disposal this summer, but he's expected to be backed by the club in order to build a contender of a team.
De Gea flourished under Mourinho at Old Trafford, but has now seen his role diminished to that of cup goalkeeper in a switch with Henderson, who starts the majority of league games.

The other player Mourinho is apparently keen on is Donny van de Beek, who has endured a torrid first season in the Premier League.
The Dutchman joined from Ajax last summer in a deal worth £40.5million, but has barely played for Solskjaer's side.
Van de Beek has made 33 appearances across all competitions, but many of those have been bit-part appearances late from the bench.
The fact he has just two starts in the Premier League sums up what has been a dismal campaign for one of Europe's brightest talents, who is still just 24.
And now, Calcio Mercato suggests Mourinho is set to offer him a lifeline out of Old Trafford and sign him for Roma.
There have been whispers that Van de Beek would be willing to move on loan this summer in order to get more football, but a permanent move seems unlikely.
