Roman Abramovich is keen to make Romelu Lukaku a Chelsea player for the second time this summer and is 'personally' driving the bid himself.

Thomas Tuchel's side were crowned winners of the Champions League against Manchester City on Saturday evening but Abramovich is wasting no time making plans for next season, eyeing a first Premier League title in five years.

Lukaku appears to be Chelsea's main priority this window; last week it was reported that the Blues were willing to sacrifice five players in order to fund a move for the Belgian.

The current Inter Milan forward spent three years at Stamford Bridge between 2011 and 2014 but failed to score a single goal in his 10 Premier League appearances.

However, he has developed massively since then, and Eurosport say Abramovich wants him back in west London, with the owner even part of the transfer discussions.

The Nerazzurri need to reduce their wage bill by 15-20 percent this summer, on top of selling a couple of their star players, due to their poor financial situation.

Following the departure of Antonio Conte, Lukaku may be one of the star players Inter need to sell in order to balance the books.

The Belgian forward netted 24 goals in 32 matches as the Milanese club won the Scudetto for the first time in 11 years.

With Timo Werner struggling significantly during his first season at the Bridge, Tuchel's priority in the transfer market is up-front after growing frustrated with the mis-firing German.

Despite their fourth-placed finish, Chelsea were the third lowest scorers of the top 10 sides in the Premier League.

Abramovich believes the capture of Lukaku would be a statement of intent, as the Blues look to secure a first Premier League title since the 2016-17 season.

But the Chelsea owner will have to move quickly with Manchester City also in the market for a striker; Gabriel Jesus is reportedly unsettled and Sergio Aguero has recently joined Barcelona on the expiration of his contract.
