On the way out Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been slammed by talkSPORT host Simon Jordan for being "one of the worst things to happen to English football".

The Russian billionaire has been forced to sell the club due to his relationship with Vladimir Putin, and the owner detailed in an open letter to Chelsea fans that he has put the club up for sale.

Abramovich bought the club in 2003 for just £60million, much less than the £3billion he is asking for 19 years later.

And Jordan has branded him as one of the worst things to happen in football due to how the game has changed.

In a sensational rant, Jordan said on talkSport: "With the exception of Chelsea, Roman Abramovich is one of the worst things that could've happened to English football. Our Premier League was already flying but what he did was create hyperinflation.

"He may have stopped the powerhouses of Manchester United and Arsenal but that was going to happen anyway. What he did was change the landscape of football to make it so financially unviable for your own reasons.

"People look at what he did and then you look at these people buying these football clubs like Manchester City, like Newcastle, these people aren't buying them because they love the football clubs.

"The only benefit is for the players and the agents, and now we have a generation of players that have no character, no backbone, they get paid far too much money and the morality of football is questioned.

"Abramovich's legacy for Chelsea is fabulous but for football it's awful. The hyperinflation has destroyed football. The Championship is is chaos. The EFL cannot keep up.

"No one is getting anything more out of the game. It's moving the game further away from fans and the costs are getting greater and part of that is because of people like Abramovich.

"Good riddance, bye bye, next."
