Roma are reportedly looking to fine defender Rick Karsdorp – the player who fell out with manager Jose Mourinho.
As reported by Football Italia, it’s said that the fine would be because the 27-year-old failed to turn up to a training session and also failed to join the squad for their mid-season break in Japan.
It comes after Mourinho, in November, said that one player – who he initially refused to name – had ‘betrayed’ his team-mates.

It was later revealed that Karsdorp was the player that Mourinho was referring to.
Football Italia state the 27-year-old did not show up for the resumption of training at Trigoria in late November and did not join his team-mates for the retreat in Japan.
It’s said Roma are looking to fine Karsdorp more than the 5% of a gross monthly salary, set as a maximum limit by the rules for fines.
The Board of Arbitration will then pass judgement, with an ‘arbitrator’ appointed by each of the two parties and an independent president. The case could also go to the Court of Appeals.
It’s reported that Karsdorp justified his absence from training with health reasons, discussing emotional stress following an assault carried out by a group of Roma ultras at his house in Casal Palocco after after the 1-1 draw with Sassuolo on November 9.
Mourinho said an unnamed player ‘betrayed’ their team-mates – which turned out to be Karsdorp
The Sassuolo game was where Mourinho said one of his Roma players has betrayed their team-mates.
Mourinho told DAZN: ‘It was a team that wanted to win against a tough opponent, I am sorry that the efforts of the team were betrayed by the attitude of one unprofessional player.
‘An unprofessional attitude that is not fair to his teammates, that is what disappoints me. A point away from home is still not a negative result and I am happy with the general attitude of my squad.’
When asked which player he meant, he said: ‘I won’t tell you. I had 16 players on the field tonight and I liked the attitude of 15 of them. In January, he needs to find himself another club.’
The Dutchman came on in the 65th minute and endured a difficult time, which included a perceived lack of effort in the build-up to Sassuolo’s late equaliser.
Roma are said to be looking to fine Karsdorp more than the maximum limit for fines
Karsdorp has returned to training with Roma and is waiting for the right offer to leave.
Football Italia also reported this week that Karsdorp’s lawyer has hit out at Roma and Mourinho.
Salvatore Civale said: ‘This whole thing started because someone very famous at Roma had the wrong attitude, and he is not at all new to this sort of thing, specifically Jose Mourinho.
‘When these comments to the media come from someone of his calibre and fame, unfortunately that generates a hostile atmosphere around a player, as you heard he was attacked by Roma fans in an airport and on social media.’
Karsdorp has been at Roma since 2017, with the right-back having made 122 appearances for the club.
It was previously reported that Fulham have been offered the defender, though they are holding out for Arsenal’s Cedric Soares.
