This is the moment that Real Madrid winger Rodrygo was given a public dressing down from his manager Carlo Ancelotti after storming off when substituted.

The £40million Brazilian star was replaced by Dani Ceballos after 56 minutes – with the Spaniard going on to play a pivotal part in Real Madrid’s incredible second-half comeback.

At the point that Rodrygo was removed by Ancelotti, a lacklustre Madrid were trailing 2-0 to Villarreal in a Copa del Rey last-16 tie that they went on to win 3-2.

Video footage shows a furious Ancelotti approaching Rodrygo on the Madrid bench, wagging his finger at him and appearing to say, ‘Tu a mi, me saludas’ which translates as ‘You, you need to acknowledge me’.

Marca understands that Rodrygo’s frustration boiled over from the fact that he was caught up in his own anger at his performance.

The Brazilian stormed off, snubbing a handshake from his manager before sitting down on the bench. 

After the game, Ancelotti played down the spat, explaining: ‘I told him not to forget to offer me his hand when he was substituted. I think he forgot.’

Dani Ceballos, who replaced Rodyrgo, went on to grab an assist and the match-winner to seal a 3-2 comeback

Just a minute after Ceballos replaced Rodrygo, he assisted Vinicius Jr to halve the deficit.

And after Eder Militao levelled things up, it was Ceballos who went on to grab the match-winning goal to seal a win for Ancelotti’s side.

Ancelotti said he was delighted with the win adding: ‘We were not good in the first half but the team showed great character in the second. We fought for everything and changed the story of the game.’

The victory will ease the pressure building on Ancelotti although there maybe more fires to put out in the coming days.

Midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni was watching the NBA Chicago Bulls v Detroit Pistons game in Paris as his team toiled at the Ceramica Stadium. The France midfielder is recovering from an injury and was unavailable for the game.

The Copa del Rey victory sends the La Liga champions into the quarter-finals where they will play rivals Atletico Madrid.
