Rodri ‘leg breaker’ on Odegaard leaves Arsenal fans fuming at Man City rival

Arsenal fans are fuming with Manchester City star Rodri for his "leg breaker" tackle on Martin Odegaard.

The players clashed on international duty for Spain and Norway tonight (March 25) in a Euro 2024 qualifier. Odegaard had a great opportunity to score for his nation after being found in space in the box.

But after he'd taken his shot, which was ultimately blocked, Rodri followed through with a challenge which left his Premier League title rival writhing around the floor in pain. The Gunners captain protested the very late nature of the tackle, but his penalty appeals were waved away.

His club fans were more concerned if he'd been injured by Rodri, who was accused of trying to boost City's chances. One viewer tweeted: "That Rodri challenge on Odegaard in the box…blatant pen. Leg breaker. Wow."

"Disgusting, you have to wonder if that’s intentional to ruin Arsenal's title charge," commented a second. A third argued: "He didn't even try to go for the ball he was purely aiming for him."

A fourth slammed: "Odegaard denied a clear penalty. Rodri trying to end Arsenal's title run with a nasty red card challenge. Fuming."

Do you think Rodri did it on purpose? Let us know in the comments section.

"This Rodri guy is so vile he knew what he was doing," claimed a fifth, while a sixth said: "Nah this guy is trying to f*** up our season! That’s disgusting."

A seventh suggested: "Absolutely horrible foul from Rodri on Odegaard, Incredibly, no penalty given, Rodri under Pep’s orders to injure our captain?"

The night didn't get any better for Odegaard, who also skippers his nation. While he managed to play on after the challenge, he was booked as an Erling Haaland-less Norway fell to a 3-0 defeat away from home.
