Manchester City and Tottenham now have a new option in play following reports that Robert Lewandowski wants to leave Bayern Munich. The Pole was on target twice as the Bundesliga champions beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in the DFL-SuperCup on Tuesday night but the German champions have now been rocked by the news that Lewandowski wants out.
Having won it all in Bavaria, the 33-year-old feels now is the right time to pursue one last big challenge.
That could be of interest to both Man City and Tottenham give the ongoing Harry Kane transfer saga.
City now have a new option available if they decide to walk away from the table for the England captain and Pep Guardiola has previously worked with Lewandowski at Bayern.
Furthermore, in a market starved of top class strikers, Spurs now have a new potential option to replace Kane if he departs.

According to Sky Sports reporter Paul Gilmour, Lewandowski has made it clear to Bayern he would like to leave.
“Robert Lewandowski, one of the best in the world, the FIFA and UEFA Player of the Year,” Gilmour said on Sky Sports News.
“What we are being told is Robert Lewandowski wants a new challenge away from Bayern Munich.
“Let me just bring you some context on this, he turns 33 on Saturday, he has two years remaining of his Bayern Munich contract.

“It runs until June 2023, when he will be approaching his 35th birthday.
“What he feels, we are being told, is that when he gets to that stage it maybe difficult to find that new big European club.
“That’s the reasons for wanting this challenge but the problem is that, Bayern Munich have put a valuation of around £110m on him.
“It makes it very difficult for a potential buying club to come in and pay that kind of money.”
Tottenham remain clear they do not want to sell Kane and are no longer responding to City.

However, there has been some suggestion the Premier League champions could now pay the £150m it would take to sign the 28-year-old, with Spurs already exploring potential replacements.
Meanwhile, Bayern are already preparing for the departure of Lewandowski and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed the club are interested in signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
He told German TV channel Sport1: “He’s a top player, and I hear a great boy too. You look there, but he’s a Dortmund player. Sixty goals in 60 games.
“You have to look, otherwise we would be full amateurs.”
