Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski was reportedly involved in a post-match bust-up with team-mate Ansu Fati following the club’s exit from the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Spanish Giants were dumped out the competition following a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, seeing Xavi’s men exit 4-3 on aggregate at the hands of the Red Devils.

Lewandowski did get on the scoresheet from the penalty spot, but was seen visibly frustrated later in the game when Fati got in the way of a cross that was intended for the Barcelona number nine.

Those frustrations didn’t stop once the team headed back to the dressing room, and according to AS, the 34-year-old confronted Fati and aired his grievances to his team-mate.

The report details that the Polish forward was ‘good mannered’ during his complaints, but pointed out to the young Spaniard that this wasn’t the first time it had happened.

Fati and Lewandowski were apparently involved in a dressing room bust-up after the game

Fati then defended himself by claiming that he hadn’t seen Lewandowski during the move, prompting him to try and get on the end of the cross.

Lewandowski has been a huge success for the Catalans, scoring 25 goals in 30 games since his move from Bayern Munich in the summer.

His goals have contributed to Barcelona’s healthy lead at the top of LaLiga, where the lead rivals Real Madrid by eight points with 16 games to go before the end of the campaign.

Xavi’s men are also still the Cop del Rey and face Real Madrid in the first leg of the semi-final clash on Thursday. However, their European campaign has come to end following the United defeat.

The were no signs from the normally mild-mannered Lewandowski of his frustrations in a post-match message he posted to social media, reflecting on the evening’s events.

‘We fought until the last minute but unfortunately it wasn’t enough tonight.’ Lewandowski said.

‘We are disappointed, but we still have trophies to win this season. Thank you for your support.’

Barcelona are back in action tomorrow, when they travel to LaLiga strugglers Almeria, 24 hours after their title rivals Real host Atletico in the Madrid derby.
