Riyad Mahrez sends fans into raptures by celebrating ‘so hard’ against old club
Manchester City's Algerian star Riyad Mahrez has come under fire for celebrating 'so hard' against Leicester.
Pep Guardiola's side signed the Algerian for Leicester in 2018 for £50million, and he has quickly integrated himself as a key player at the Etihad.
And as City ran riot on Boxing Day, with the score at 1-0, Mahrez was given the nod from the penalty spot.
Mahrez smashed the ball past an outstretch Kasper Schmeichel, who had guessed the right way, to double City's lead.
However, some football fans took to Twitter to express their shock at Mahrez's celebration against his former side.
"Mahrez celebrating so hard," one fan tweeted with a couple of laughing emojis.
While another joked: "Mahrez celebrating {laughing emoji] my GOAT."
But, not all found it funny: "Celebrating against your old team where you had a good time and where they respect you…Mahrez."
"Mahrez pathetic to celebrate against [the] club that made him the star he is [now]," a third fumed.
A fourth tweeted: "So magnanimous of Mahrez to celebrate scoring a penalty against Leicester."

Mahrez was part of the Leicester City side that famously defied their 5000/1 odds to win the Premier League in the 15/16 campaign.
That season, Mahrez found the net 17 times and provided 1-0 assists for the Foxes.
His form didn't go unnoticed either, and he was voted as the PFA Player of the year ahead of the likes of Harry Kane, Mesut Ozil, and Dimitri Payet.
The Algerian had only been part of the Leicester set-up for just over a year after he had moved to the Foxes from French side Le Harve for £400,000.

Mahrez wasn't the only City player on the scoresheet as Schmeichel was forced to pick the ball out of his net four times in the first 24 minutes.
Kevin De Bruyne got the ball rolling before Mahrez doubled the lead with Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling also getting in on the action.
