Rio Ferdinand doesn’t include Alisson in his best three goalkeepers in the world
Rio Ferdinand snubbed Liverpool hero Alisson Becker from his best three goalkeepers in the world despite only selecting players from the Premier League.
Alisson, 29, has enjoyed another stellar campaign for The Reds, keeping 13 clean sheets for Jurgen Klopp's side whilst also captaining the team in their last two Champions League outings.
A fan favourite at Anfield, Alisson's heroics helped Liverpool secure a sixth Champions League trophy in his first campaign at the club before following it up by ending The Reds' 30-year wait for a top-flight crown a season later.
But that still wasn't enough to solidify a place in Ferdinand's top three goalkeepers with Italian great Gianluigi Donnarumma also absent from his selection.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, he said: "If I was picking a goalkeeper right now in the world, I think my top three ‘keepers would be, and maybe people say you’re biased because of the Premier League, but it would be Mendy, Ederson and, on form right now, De Gea.
"Mendy stands out for me, especially in this last year, he’s been impeccable."
With Chelsea and Manchester City possessing the two meanest defences in the top flight, it's clear to see why Edouard Mendy and Ederson have been chosen by Ferdinand.
The duo have enjoyed a superb last 12 months with Mendy claiming Champions League and Africa Cup of Nations glory whilst Ederson secured a third Premier League title in four seasons.

Though David de Gea is a peculiar choice, only Leicester have conceded more than the Red Devils in the top half of the Premier League.
By comparison, Liverpool have shipped 12 fewer goals than their fierce rivals with Alisson one shy of doubling the Spaniard's clean sheet total for the season.
De Gea also missed United's decisive spot-kick against Villarreal in last season's Europa League final to hand Unai Emery's side their first-ever major honour.
