Peter Schmeichel left Micah Richards in stitches during CBS' Champions League coverage – after the Manchester United icon insisted that the Red Devils can still win the Champions League.
United were optimistic of mounting a title challenge this season, but have been woeful in the Premier League – with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer paying the ultimate price.
Fortunes haven't improved under interim chief Ralf Rangnick either, with United's hopes of silverware hanging by a thread after they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough earlier this month.
United are still in the Champions League though, with Rangnick's side set to face Atletico Madrid in the last-16 later this month.
And Schmeichel believes that Rangnick can still lead United to European glory – even if Richards disagrees.
It was Richards who put the question to Schmeichel during the coverage, where he asked: “Peter, do you honestly believe that Manchester United can win the Champions League? Be honest with me now, no messing around.”
After a brief pause, Schmeichel brazenly replied: “Yes. What kind of a question is that?”
And that led to a wild reaction from Richards, with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher also in hysterics.

Schmeichel was part of the Manchester United team that clinched the Champions League title back in 1999 to cap a sensational treble, but United are a different prospect nowadays.
The Red Devils look a shadow of their former selves and are scrapping to secure a top four finish after finishing as runners-up in the Premier League last season.
If they are to progress to the quarter finals of Europe's premier competition, then they'll have to edge out the reigning La Liga champions.

While overcoming Diego Simeone's side doesn't look straightforward, United did at least get back to winning ways in the Premier League in midweek.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes fired second half goals to seal a 2-0 win over Brighton – but it was another unconvincing performance from Rangnick's men.
United now face a season-defining couple of weeks, with a crunch clash with bitter rivals Leeds at Elland Road on the cards on Sunday before they jet off to Madrid.
