Richard Keys slams ‘dangerous’ Arteta and trolls Man City in Prem predictions

Richard Keys has slammed Arsenal and Mikel Arteta as well as diminishing Pep Guardiola’s success at Manchester City in his 2023/24 Premier League predictions.

The former Sky Sports presenter has pulled no punches in his predictions for the upcoming season – even rubbishing Mauricio Pochettino’s chances of a successful campaign with Chelsea.

Keys also opted to troll the champions throughout his predictions as he called them ‘*City,’ revealing at the bottom that the asterisk “denotes a team waiting to answer 115 PL charges of financial wrongdoing.” City deny all accusations of wrongdoing.

Despite his jibe at City, Keys has backed them as the “obvious” choice to win the league, believing that their dominance in recent years will make them favourites to win a sixth Premier League title in seven years.

But Keys couldn’t help but have a dig at Pep Guardiola, claiming that the £1billlion the Spaniard has spent on 47 players since arriving at the Etihad would also see a few other coaches enjoy the exact same success he has at City.

The Spaniard also took shots regarding his complaints about the prolonged added time expected to be seen throughout the season and called his concerns about his players running on empty “nonsense.”

The beIN Sports presenter admitted that he wants to see a different name on the title this year given City’s dominance, but he’s sure it won’t be Arsenal as he hammered their ‘immature’ behaviour last season and slammed Mikel Arteta.

Keys wrote in his Blog: “Mature teams that are used to winning don’t behave like Arsenal did.

“I hope Arteta behaves a little better as well, although his emotional tale last week about nearly quitting after failing to win the title was worrying. Why? What’s the point of telling us that? It sounded weak.

“His behaviour in the technical area is annoying – and dangerous. The area is marked as it is for a reason. Jump up and down as much as you like within it.

“Let the world know you don’t trust your players to do the right things by waving your arms about like a broken windmill all game – but stay within your own technical area – not on the touchline, not on the half-way line and definitely not in front of the opposition area. ‘Stay calm – and carry on.’”

Keys later claimed that Chelsea “remain a mess” and will fall short of the top four along with Spurs. Predicting that Arsenal will finish in the top four alongside Liverpool and Manchester United despite him hammering their mentality last season.

He also backed Aston Villa to be dark horses, while saying Everton would struggle but will stay up. He also believes that all three promoted sides – Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town – will be relegated.
