Juventus would save a staggering £26.9million on their wage bill if they manage to offload Paul Pogba to play in Saudi Arabia, according to an investigation of the player’s contract in Italy.
The former Manchester United star signed with the Old Lady at the start of last season after calling time on life at Old Trafford following the expiration of his contract.
Upon joining as a free agent, the 30-year-old was handed a bumper £6.8million-per-season contract upon returning to his former club, but Juventus are yet to see a return on their investment.
Pogba has endured a horror homecoming to Turin, with his first season back in Serie A pockmarked by persistent injury and difficulty finding his form.
After having to undergo knee surgery on the heels of a hamstring injury in pre-season, Pogba was only able to make his competitive debut for the club in February, and was soon after sidelined by injury once again.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogba’s 10 appearances during last season meant that the midfielder received a staggering £680,000 (€800,000) per game – and £42,488 (€49,689) per minute played.
When tax is factored into Pogba’s contract, the Italian outlet discovered, Juventus pay around £8.9m (€10.5m), and after signing the French midfielder on a four-year deal, could see the club spend a total of close to £35.9m (€52m) in wages on the player.
This could rise to as high as £42.9m (€50m), should Pogba achieve the necessary bonuses and add-ons detailed in his contract, and the staggering salary could prove a decisive factor in whether the Turin club looks for a move for the player.
Pogba is currently being courted by Al-Ittihad, who signed the player’s compatriots – Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante – at the start of the summer window, and the Saudi Pro League club would look to offer significantly more than Juventus in terms of weekly salary.
Al-Ittihad are believed to be proposing a three-year deal worth a mammoth £85.6m (€100m), and Pogba is thought to have been interested enough in the club to take a tour around the side’s training facility during a recent trip to Saudi Arabia.

During his pilgrimage to the holy Islamic city of Mecca, a Tik Tok video of the star being quizzed on a move to Saudi Arabia went viral, with Pogba sharing that there could indeed by a question mark over his future at Juventus.
‘I don’t know if you will be able to see me in the Saudi league. Not today… we don’t know tomorrow,’ Pogba told an influencer. ‘Al-Ittihad or Al-Ahly? We don’t know, we’ll see.’
But even if Juventus decide to cut ties with the player and place him in the shop window, the embattled club – who will go without European football due to a points deduction – may look to offload other higher earners in their squad to manage their hefty wage bill.
Dusan Vlahovic has been eyed by Chelsea in a bid to hand new manager Mauricio Pochettino an additional dose of attacking firepower, and his exit would save Juventus close to £25.6m (€30m) over the next three years, ahead of his contract expiration in 2026.
Newcastle and Aston Villa target Federico Chiesa’s exit would see the club save a further £19.6m (€23m) on their wage bill over the next two years.

But none of those three exits compare to the 2021 sale of Cristiano Ronaldo: his move back to Manchester United allowed the club to make a saving of a colossal £48.9m (€57.3m), based on his £540,000-a-week salary.
Ronaldo’s current deal at Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr makes him far and away the highest-paid footballer in the world.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner earns a sensational £175million a year in Riyadh, but was unable to offer his side the difference during his debut season in the Kingdom.
Al-Nassr finished second in the table behind their rivals, Al-Ittihad.
