Referee’s speech to player he is sending off has eagle-eyed fans in hysterics

Fans are in hysterics after one eagle-eyed spectator spotted a referee giving a player his marching orders in remarkable fashion yesterday.

One fan took to Twitter to share an exchange between Shrewsbury Town's Tom Flanagan and the referee during his side's eventual 1-0 loss at home to Accrington Stanley. The referee was seen booking the Northern Irish defender twice before showing him red, all in quick succession.

The ref, Andy Haines, had clearly had enough of the 30-year-old when he was seen saying: "One yellow for the push, second yellow for dissent, and that one’s a red, see ya later."

@PhiliusBoro tweeted: "Love the way he has a little look up at the red, just to check."
