The kits worn by Portugal and Morocco on Saturday afternoon in the World Cup quarter-finals confused fans, with neutrals questioning which team is which. The victor of the match will take on either England or France in the next round of the competition.

Despite Portugal being known for their red and green strips, Fernando Santos’ team were forced to wear their white away kit at the Al Thumama Stadium. With Morocco instead wearing their home strip – red shirt, green shorts, red socks.

This, understandably, led to many neutrals being left confused and mistaking players for one another. One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Morocco wearing red and green against Portugal is messing with my head, I thought Ziyech was Ronaldo for the first 10 minutes.”

Another added: “Thought Portugal were playing in red for a minute and was wondering why there was a No 7 on the pitch.” One went as far as saying: “My brain cannot deal with the fact that Portugal are not the team in red and green. It just won’t compute.”
