Villarreal manager Unai Emery admitted attacker Takefusa Kubo is ‘looking for a way out’ of his loan from Real Madrid.
Since joining Los Blancos in 2019 from FC Tokyo, the Japanese wonderkid spent last season on loan at Mallorca before being shipped off again this term to Emery’s Villarreal.
Kubo has not settled well at the Estadio de la Ceramica and is keen to leave the club in January.

‘I asked Kubo if he wanted to stay or leave and he told me that he is looking for a way out,’ coach Emery said after Villarreal’s 2-1 win over Levante on Saturday.
‘Take’s behaviour is good, he has helped us and he must continue to grow as a player, however, he told me he wants to leave in order to find more minutes elsewhere and that’s why he wasn’t in the match day squad today.’
Aware of Kubo’s desire for a new challenge in the second half of this season, Getafe president Angel Torres revealed their interest in the speedy winger.
‘Kubo wants to come to Getafe,’ Torres told Onda Cero.
Getafe have declared an interest in the Japanese star, who has barely played at Villarreal
‘Yes, another reinforcement could be Carles Alena, but we are not going to go crazy.’
In order to allow the 19-year-old to end his loan spell at Villarreal, they would have to come to an agreement soon with Real Madrid – which should not be too hard given Kubo’s lack of involvement this season.
Madrid want the Japanese starlet to gain more regular game time and will look to send him somewhere else for that to be achieved, with Getafe a real possibility.
Real Madrid are still looking to make additions and are keen on signing Eduardo Camavinga despite Luka Modric signing a new contract at the Bernabeu.
The Spanish giants view the Rennes midfielder as the future of their midfield, with his physicality and positional flexibility key attributes.
Last week veteran midfielder Modric, 35, extended his deal until June 2022.
Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is reportedly still a £44million target for Real Madrid
