Real reason Foster is yet to sign for Wrexham as ex-Man Utd ace ponders future
There's a very good reason why Ben Foster is still yet to commit his future to Wrexham.
The ex-Manchester United shot-stopper, 40, came out of retirement at the back end of the 2022/23 season to help former club Wrexham claim the National League title.
Bankrolled by Hollywood icons Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the Welsh outfit finished four points clear of challengers Notts County, who eventually earned promotion via a dramatic play-off final win over Chesterfield.
Sworn in for the final eight games of the regular season, Foster played a crucial part in Wrexham lifting the fifth-tier trophy. The experienced shot-stopper saved a crucial last-minute penalty against Notts County alongside several other key contributions.

After his short-term deal expired at the Racecourse ground Foster seemed to suggest he could be persuaded to pen extended terms and Wrexham's retained list later confirmed the club are holding talks with Foster "to establish if his intention is to return to retirement or continue playing."
And while it's understood Foster is seriously considering a new deal in Wales, the goalkeeper has been busy signing a one-match deal to participate in this year's Soccer Aid, raising funds for humanitarian charity UNICEF – which might explain why a deal at Wrexham is yet to be ratified.

Competition rules dictate the ex-England ace, who has bizarrely been chosen to represent the World XI at Soccer Aid, is not allowed to participate as a current footballer and cannot be registered to a professional outfit at the time of the game.
Speaking on his appearance at Soccer Aid back in March, before penning a short-term deal at Wrexham, Foster said: We're really, really excited for it. I think I'll find it fairly easy because it's kind of both of my worlds mixing together in a way.
"Having played football for the best part of 20 years, I've jumped into this new sort of YouTube world. I've already done a lot of videos where we're sort of playing with YouTubers. Now we understand that world, it should be fairly easy for me!"
