Real Madrid star trio sign new contracts with £2.1billion release clauses
Three of Real Madrid's biggest names have been handed new contracts.
Eder Militao, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo have all reportedly signed new bumper deals and they all have whopping release clauses that even the richest clubs in the world would struggle to pay. Combined, clubs could bag the three players for a small £2.1billion.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Militao has penned his deal until 2028 with a £425m release clause, Vinicius Jr has signed a deal until 2027 with an £850m release clause and Rodrygo has committed his future until 2028 with the same £850m release clause as Vinicius Jr.

Posting to his 10.2m followers, he said: "Éder Militão, Vinícius and Rodrygo have signed their new contracts with Real Madrid #RealMadrid. Militão: June 2028, €500m release clause.
"Vinícius: June 2027, €1B release clause.

"Rodrygo: June 2028, €1B release clause. Official statements now up to the club."
Real Madrid have managed to reinforce the Champions League winning team they built as the club also managed to recruit German defender Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea for free after his contract ran out as well as splashing the cash on £72m midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco.
The reason each player has such an astronomical release clause is due to a Spanish law that encourages freedom to look for new employment, with football not being an exception. This means clubs must agree a release clause with each player they negotiate terms with, and as a result clubs set extraordinarily high release clauses to reduce the chance of losing their best players.
