The Frenchman snubbed Real Madrid last summer in favour of signing an extension at PSG until 2024 – with an option to extend it by a year
The striker’s future remains unclear with both Mbappe’s representatives refusing to comment and Real Madrid insisting they’ve heard nothing since the summer.
Mbappe’s decision to sign a new deal worth £650,000-a-week with PSG last summer surprised many, after it was widely expected he would join Madrid.
Though the Spanish champions were unhappy by Mbappe’s decision, club president Florentino Perez has not closed the door on a future move for the 2018 World Cup winner.
He also claimed that the decision was influenced by French president Emmanuel Macron, who is said to have called Mbappe asking him to stay in Ligue 1.

Mbappe has been embroiled in speculation over his happiness at PSG.
Reports claimed that the Ligue 1 champions had promised him a big transfer window including signing the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Bernardo Silva and Milan Skriniar to help them finally win the Champions League.
Mbappe, who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, has cut an unhappy figure in France this season, in which he appears to have fallen out with Neymar and has felt frustrated with manager Christopher Galtier’s attacking system.
The forward has has publicly explained that he prefers playing in a two-man system alongside a pivot, like he does with Olivier Giroud in the national team.
There were also concerns that several of his teammates were reportedly unhappy with the French star’s attitude, with Mbappe becoming increasingly isolated within the squad.
A transfer to Real Madrid may not happen in January or the summer but the prospect certainly hasn’t gone away.
A PSG source told The Athletic: ‘The only club that can get him out of here is Real Madrid.
‘Nothing is impossible in football, but we could ask for £352 (€400m), or not even put a price on him.’
But some in Paris feel Mbappe has returned reinvigorated from his World Cup heartbreak with France and is excited about the club’s direction.
