Real Madrid boss Ancelotti ‘troubled’ by Perez’s transfer plan involving Kane

Five potential transfer destinations for Harry Kane

Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly growing frustrated with the higher powers at Real Madrid due to their reluctance to push on with his personal transfer targets ahead of next season. The Italian is desperate for Los Blancos to put an offer on the table for Tottenham star Harry Kane, though other players are being prioritised despite not being entirely attainable.

Madrid were keen to bolster their forward ranks this summer after finishing second in the La Liga behind rivals Barcelona. A lack of depth in the final third was cited as a key factor behind the underwhelming campaign, as well as there not being a quality alternative option to bring on off of the bench.

Though those plans have been amplified and accelerated by Karim Benzema’s decision to head to Saudi Arabia rather than sign a contract extension with the club. Second-choice striker Mariano has also departed as a free agent, with Espanyol star Joselu expected to be a direct replacement – may that be permanently or on loan.

Madrid still need a top-quality No 9 to lead the line for Ancelotti next season, and Relevo reports that the ex-Everton boss has made it no secret in meetings that he wants Kane to be pursued vigorously. Florentino Perez was present on those occasions and agreed with the demand, but it is reported that he has since had a change of heart.

The Madrid president is desperate for his side to sign Kylian Mbappe and is considering holding out from signing another striker so that the France international can be welcomed as a free agent next summer. The PSG forward is not expected to activate the clause in his contract to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes by another year, allowing Madrid to pounce.

However, Ancelotti is ‘troubled’ by the idea as he is keen for ‘immediate’ improvements in his ranks. The 63-year-old is also out of contract at the end of the season and, if a new deal is not agreed upon, then he won’t ever benefit from the arrival of Mbappe and therefore not enthused by the idea of putting transfer plans on pause.

If Perez caves into the demands of his manager then Madrid will face competition from Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the race to sign Kane – though Spurs are adamant that their star striker will remain at the club beyond this summer.

They reportedly are confident that the England international will commit to signing a new deal in north London rather than waiting for his contract to expire at the end of next season.
