Real Madrid and Manchester City reportedly agreed on a transfer clause designed to stop Manchester United ever signing Brahim Diaz. The 21-year-old is on loan at AC Milan and was back in Manchester on Thursday when he played in the 1-1 draw against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Diaz has been regular in Milan’s Europa League campaign this season, as well as helping Stefano Piolo’s side to second in the Serie A table with 17 league appearances.

He couldn’t add to his three European goals so far this season in Thursday’s clash with United, in which a last-ditch equaliser from Simon Kjaer cancelled out Amad’s opener.

But he has impressed at the San Siro, with Milan reportedly hoping he will extend his stay beyond his current season-long loan.

And the attacking midfielder was highly rated at City, that when Real Madrid signed him for £15million in January 2019, the Etihad club insisted on an ‘anti-Manchester United’ clause being inserted into the deal.

According to the Daily Star, the clause decreed that should any other ‘Manchester club’ want to sign Diaz in the future, 40% of the sell-on fee would have to go to City.

It was clearly designed to deter United from swooping for the Spain under-21 international, with Pep Guardiola’s side fearing their neighbours might benefit from his decision to leave the Etihad.

Diaz made just 15 appearances for City, scoring two goals, before leaving in search of more regular playing time.

Since joining Madrid he has played just 21 times, but has already made 28 appearances for Milan this season.

Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is a fan of Diaz, according to Marca – but the Spanish publication says his current bosses at Milan are also pleased with him and hope he will stay at the San Siro.

Meanwhile, United are not regretting their recent capture from Serie A after former Atalanta winger Amad scored his first goal for the club in Thursday’s Europa League clash.

The 18-year-old gave Solskjaer’s side the lead against Milan when he flicked Bruno Fernandes’ lofted ball past Gianluigi Donnaruma with the back of his head.

Afterwards, Solskjaer insisted Amad still has “loads to learn” – but said the goal would be a huge boost as he begins his United career.

“It’s creative, he plays with freedom,” reflected the Norwegian boss while speaking to BT Sport.

“[It was a] great pass by Bruno who makes the goal. Amad, nice goal, [but] still loads to learn. He’ll be better after that.”
