Rashford helps bankrupt ex-Man Utd star by renting home with ‘mates’ rates’

Marcus Rashford is reportedly helping bankrupt ex-Man United star Wes Brown by renting him a home on 'mates' rates'.

Former Red Devils defender Brown was declared bankrupt last month after falling into a six-figure debt with HMRC and he's also behind on his car payments, according to the Daily Mail. The 43-year-old ostensibly lost millions in bad property deals that have led to his financial demise.

But Brown's plight has touched the hearts of some of Man United's finest from the past and present, including Rashford, Wayne Rooney, and Michael Carrick, who have banded together to support their one-time peer. And Rashford's doing his part by providing Brown one of his luxury homes to rent for a low price.

A huge chunk of Brown's money disappeared when he failed to recoup on a farm he brought for ex-wife Leanne that cost around £7million. And he was also impacted by trying to keep up with the fast life of the game's current stars.

A source said: "It may seem like Wes was earning big money — to most people he was — but the trouble was he was also trying to keep up with the lifestyle of team-mates earning five or six times more than he was. Most of his money disappeared in bad property deals. He overpaid on the farm that Leanne lives in.

"He spent something like £6million or £7m to buy that. They have tried to sell it but haven’t managed to, even after lowering the price to £4.75m. Any money left is tied up in the farm.

"A previous property of theirs was once listed at £4.5m but took seven years to sell, finally going for £2.4million — almost half price."

As for Rashford, it's the second time this week his come to another footballer's aid. It was reported that the striker rescued Aston Villa Women star Alisha Lehmann from a male mob in a nightclub, prompting the 'world's sexiest footballer' to call Rashford a "gentleman."
