Rashford confirms he’s back with childhood sweetheart Lucia Loi after split

Marcus Rashford has confirmed he is back with his childhood sweetheart, Lucia Loi, after a "painful" split.

The pair are believed to have separated in February last year, but it wasn't reported on until the summer.

However, Rashford has now taken to Instagram to upload some pictures of the couple together again with the caption: "Through thick & thin."

Rashford uploaded a series of images with the couple appearing close, including one in a mirror where Rashford had his arm wrapped around Loi.

Manchester United teammates Brandon Williams and Jesse Lingard offered their congratulations in the comments, and so did England teammates Kyle Walker and Tammy Abraham.

A source close to the pair told The Sun: "The break was good for their relationship as it offered them both space and assurance that they wanted to make this work moving forward.

"They have been together since school so an opportunity to breathe and focus on themselves was important."

While another added: "They have a shared history.

"She is one of the people who knows him best. They got back together before Christmas and are taking things slowly."

The pair met when they both attended Ashton on Mersey School in Greater Manchester as youngsters.

And Loi was regularly seen at games cheering on her significant other – especially in Russia at the 2018 World Cup.

However, the pair split last year citing 'lockdown pressures' as the reason.

But, almost a year on, the pair seem to be back together.
