Raphael Varane’s future at Real Madrid remains in doubt, with the defender’s current deal due to expire in 2022. The 27-year-old has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.
According to a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Varane’s future at the Bernabeu is up in the air.
The report states that Varane has ‘sowed doubts about his future’ by not addressing rumours linking him with a move away.
When asked about the rumours while on international duty with France, Varane replied: “I am not going to state the obvious, I have already expressed myself a lot on the subject.
“I think it has already been said and the situation has not changed.

“I am two days away from an international match with the national team, I am concentrating on that. I don’t want to answer that question on my future.”
It is claimed that the defender does not want to commit himself to Los Blancos while they continue to weigh up their options at the back.
Sergio Ramos is out of contract at the end of the season and, although manager Zinedine Zidane has publicly stated that he wants the veteran defender to stay, his future also remains uncertain.
Real have been linked with moves for Bayern Munich star David Alaba, who will be available for free in the summer, and Villarreal’s Pau Torres.

Mundo Deportivo claim that all this uncertainty means Varane does not yet want to sign an extension, opening the door to a potential exit.
Alaba confirmed last month that he would be leaving Bayern at the end of the season, saying: “I have personally made the decision to leave FC Bayern at the end of this season and try something new.
“It obviously wasn’t an easy decision – I’ve been here for 13 years and the club is very important to me. I decided for myself to try something new, a new challenge.
“First of all, I haven’t decided which club I’m going to join yet. There are many factors involved. I will give a lot of thought to that.
“Where can I continue to play successful football? That will greatly influence my decision. This lies in the future and we will see.”
According to Sky Sports, Alaba has his heart set on a move to La Liga and will join either Real or rivals Barcelona.
Should Alaba make the move to the Bernabeu and Ramos decides to stay, Varane may decide to leave and United could sign the 27-year-old.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are in the market for a central defender and a recent report from the Manchester Evening News claimed that Real are willing to sell Varane to United in the summer, with the La Liga giants said to be ‘pessimistic’ about the France international signing a new deal.
