Rankings for Premier League minutes of homegrown players show Man Utd are loyal
Brighton and Manchester United have handed out the most minutes to homegrown players in the Premier League this season – with Fulham and Wolves awarding the least.
Research from the CIES Football Observatory shows the Seagulls and United are the only two English top-flight clubs that have given more than 25 per cent of their domestic minutes to club-trained stars – those who have spent more than three years between the ages of 15 and 21 with the club.
Graham Potter has used a total of six homegrown players in the 2020/21 campaign, giving them 30 per cent of their Premier League minutes so far.
As for United, they have used more than double the amount of players (15), but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given them fewer minutes (27.2 per cent).
Chelsea are third in the list with eight homegrown stars playing 24.5 per cent of their league football this term, coming before Arsenal in fourth with seven players featuring for 20.1 per cent of their minutes.
Premier League champions Liverpool are level with United for using the highest number of club-trained players so far this season.
However, the Reds are down in seventh on the list for percentage of minutes, as they have only given them 13.3 per cent of the action.
West Ham and Burnley have used 14 and 13 youngsters respectively, yet both clubs have only dished out just under 12 per cent of their minutes to them.

Champions elect Manchester City have only played two homegrown stars for just 4.9 per cent of their league action, leaving them down in 17th on the list.
Fulham have used the same number of youngsters and given them an ever lower percentage of minutes (0.3 per cent), meaning they sit rock bottom in the homegrown-player chart.
