Ralf Rangnick has been spotted being given a guided tour of Old Trafford as he prepares to take over Manchester Untied on an interim basis.

The German will replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked late last month, until the end of the season when he will move into a consultancy role.

Rangnick, 63, is still waiting for clearance on his work visa, and he won't be in the dugout for the Red Devils' clash with Arsenal on Thursday.

However, he was spotted being shown around the Theatre of Dreams by United's Football Director John Murtough.

Rangnick was seen familiarising himself with his surroundings ahead of the first game in charge, which is believed to be Crystal Palace over the weekend.

When speaking to the media ahead of Thursday's clash with the Gunners, Michael Carrick confirmed he is yet to speak to Rangnick.

He said:" Have I spoken to him? No. It's pretty much as it was when I said there, about both games we've already been to, because of the process and the work permit we haven't been able to.

"So we've carried on as we have done, it's worked well for the last two games and, hopefully, it works well tomorrow."

Carrick is currently United's caretaker boss, and he will the man in charge on Thursday evening.

And catching a first glimpse of their new boss excited United fans on Twitter: "He's not here to take part he's here to take over," one fan tweeted.

Another added: "Big Ralf finally here to save us."

"He is here and he is perfect," a third tweeted.

A fourth added: "I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, UCL [is] ours"

Rangnick faces an uphill task in the red half of Manchester, and the Red Devils were in freefall under Solskjaer.

However, a point over the weekend against table toppers Chelsea has helped United move the Red Devils back up to 8th.
