Ramsdale’s Arsenal ‘s***housery’ earned him a telling off by Chelsea security

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale revealed a Stamford Bridge security guard scolded him after he waved at a Chelsea fan during the Gunners’ recent 4-2 away victory at Stamford Bridge.

The England goalkeeper has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough season with Mikel Arteta ’s side since his summer transfer from Sheffield United. However, he has amazed and frustrated in equal measure, wowing Premier League fans with his jaw-dropping athleticism, while also winding opposing fans up with his antics from between the sticks.

The England international, who is often labelled a "s***house" by opposing fans, revels in the abuse and the heckles all goalkeepers receive from the stands, particularly when their respective sides are playing away. And the 23-year-old recently admitted a security guard at Stamford Bridge told him to wind his neck in when he celebrated Bukayo Saka’s penalty against the west Londoners.

“I find it quite funny that other players or other fans can do what they want to goalkeepers who stand there on their own for 90 minutes and get abused,” Ramsdale said to the Peter Crouch podcast.

“I waved at a Chelsea fan the other week who was giving me all sorts. In the second half when we scored the penalty, I waved at him and the security guard said ‘why did you do that? That wasn’t necessary!’

“So I said ‘you have listened to everything he said, every name under the sun, but I cannot simply wave?’ It’s enjoyment for me.”

Arsenal could very well be about to wave at their rivals into third position. Chelsea’s recent struggles has seen the Gunners move within one point of the west Londoners.

Victory for Arteta’s side in an explosive north London derby will not only seal a first top four finish since 2016, but it will also see them overtake the Blues, if they fail to beat Leeds United.
