Ralf Rangnick tells Man Utd hierarchy three first XI stars are ‘not good enough’
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has told his bosses that Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are "not good enough" to play for the club.
The damning assessment came during a presentation the German gave to director of football John Murtough and CEO Richard Arnold earlier this month.
Rangnick is set to take on a consultancy role at United once his managerial contract ends in June, with talent appraisal and identification both key aspects of the job.
It's understood that the 63-year-old has recommended a big defensive overhaul in the summer, with Shaw, Maguire and Wan-Bissaka all on the chopping block.
Maguire in particular has come under scrutiny for his performances this season, while Wan-Bissaka has never really lived up to his £50 million price tag.
Shaw on the other hand has rejuvenated himself in the last couple of years after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho.
The 26-year-old was selected in the PFA Team of the Year last season and starred in England's run to the final of Euro 2020 – but rejuvenation or not, his days at Old Trafford now look to be numbered.

According to 90min, Rangnick also recommended a number of players for the club to sign, including Wolves central defender Max Kilman, who has enjoyed a stellar season at Molineux so far.
He also reserved special praise for a few players in his squad, notably Fred, who Rangnick says could develop into an integral member of United's first team.
There are still two weeks of the January transfer window, but it's likely the club will wait until a permanent manager is appointed in the summer before making any major plays for players.
Paris Saint Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino remains favourite for the job, but Ajax's Erik ten Hag and Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers are still in the running too.
