Ralf Rangnick has not prepared Man Utd for Arsenal – but will be at Old Trafford
Michael Carrick insists new boss Ralf Rangnick has had no input in preparing Manchester United for Thursday's crunch showdown with Arsenal.
Rangnick has arrived in Manchester from Moscow ahead of starting his role as interim manager until the end of the season.
The German coach has been isolating while awaiting results of a Covid test and cannot start the job until securing a work visa, having spent time as manager of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow.
He is expected to sit in the directors box to oversee United's game with the Gunners, having visited the ground on Wednesday afternoon for a tour of his own.
In the meantime, caretaker boss Carrick admits he hasn't even spoken to his successor and has been getting on with the job of picking his United team for the visit of the Gunners.
Carrick, who remains unbeaten in his two games in charge since replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, said: "I haven't really got anything to update you on, other than the work permit process is ongoing as we speak.
"I'm in this position, as I was for Villarreal and Chelsea, getting the boys ready for the game against Arsenal. Because of the process and work permit situation we haven't been able to (speak).

"We've carried on, it's worked well the last two games and hopefully will again."
Rangnick, meanwhile, has been told he will have significant funds to spend in next month's transfer window.
The 63-year-old will spend the next four weeks assessing his squad, but will be backed in the transfer market and is expected to target signing a holding midfielder.
