Queen stole the show in 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony along with David Beckham

It's not often that David Beckham is upstaged, but The Queen rightfully stole the show during the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony.

An impressive show was put on back in 2012, when London played hosts to the Olympics with the vision of changing the legacy of sport within the country. And organisers made sure they got the biggest names possible, as The Queen, Beckham and even Daniel Craig (James Bond) played their part.

The country has entered a state of mourning following the death of Her Majesty, with fans sharing their favourite moments of The Queen over her incredible reign. And the Opening Ceremony has resurfaced, as Queen Elizabeth II stole the show at the London Stadium.

The Queen was presented during the ceremony, and fans erupted as they were sharing the same arena as Her Majesty. And she put on quite the acting performance too as a short film was played beforehand, showing her star alongside fictional British Secret Service agent James Bond.

Beckham met The Queen on many occasions, and remains a popular figure within the Royal box at Wimbledon. And the former England and Manchester United star is 'devastated' following her passing.

"I’m truly saddened by the death of Her Majesty, The Queen," Beckham wrote on Instagram. "What an outpouring of love and respect we saw for the Platinum Jubilee for her life of service.

"How devastated we all feel today shows what she has meant to people in this country and around the world. How much she inspired us with her leadership. How she comforted us when times were tough.

"Until her last days she served her country with dignity and grace. This year she would have known how loved she was. My thoughts and prayers are with our Royal Family…"
