QPR insist there is ‘absolutely no truth’ to reports manager Mark Warburton is considering leaving the club to take up FA assistant technical director role

Queens Park Rangers said there is ‘no truth’ to suggestions manager Mark Warburton is considering leaving the club to take up a job with the FA.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that Warburton had been interviewed for a role as assistant technical director.

However, the club said in a statement later that night that there is ‘absolutely no truth’ to the rumour.

Warburton also moved to dispel the suggestion following his side’s 1-0 win over Swansea.

He said: ‘I don’t know where this has come from, there isn’t a grain of truth in it.

‘I’m completely committed to QPR and am focused on the job in hand.’

QPR CEO Lee Hoos added in the statement by the club on Tuesday night: ‘Mark Warburton is not leaving for The FA.

‘It’s a pity the publication did not bother checking their facts before releasing the article which is so wide of the mark.’

Former Rangers boss Warburton has been at the Championship outfit since 2019 and they’re currently eighth in the table, nine points off the play-off spots.

The FA are searching for an assistant technical director after former Tottenham coach John McDermott replaced Les Reed as technical director at the beginning of this year.

McDermott was hugely respected at Spurs over 15 years and was a pivotal figure in developing the likes of Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Danny Rose and Andros Townsend.
