PSG's star Kylian Mbappe is the greatest potential player on FIFA 23

REVEALED: PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe has the greatest potential of ANY player on FIFA 23’s Career Mode… with Man City pair Erling Haaland and Phil Foden making it into the top four

  • Kylian Mbappe has the greatest potential of any player on FIFA 23’s career mode
  • The French superstar pips Manchester City’s hotshot striker Erling Haaland
  • Pedri, Phil Foden, Vinicius Junior and Gianluigi Donnarumma also score highly
  • Kai Havertz and Jude Bellingham among the names in EA’s top ten future stars

Kylian Mbappe has the highest potential of any player on the Career Mode on FIFA 23, which is released at the end of this month.

The French superstar, who plays for PSG, is already rated as a 91 on the EA Sports game, but with the right progress through the seasons, could grow to become a 95 rated player.

It places him top of the potential list, ahead of Manchester City’s new hotshot striker Erling Haaland, who could become a 94, and Barcelona’s 19-year-old talent Pedri, who could become a 93.

Kylian Mbappe could be the best player if he reaches his full potential in FIFA 23 Career Mode

There is a three way tie for fourth spot, with Haaland’s City teammate Phil Foden, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma all possible 92s with the right gameplay.

Individual player statistics have not been revealed for the FIFA game, which will be the last in the long-running contract between football’s global body and EA Sports.

The rest of the top ten future stars includes Chelsea’s Kai Havertz, Borussia Dortmund’s teen English talent Jude Bellingham, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

It was previously reported by Sportsmail that Karim Benzema is the game’s top-rated player, according to the overall statistics, taking him above previous incumbent Lionel Messi after the Argentine’s four years at the summit.

Erling Haaland and Phil Foden are among the four players with the highest FIFA potential

Mbappe – who features on the game’s cover alongside Chelsea striker Sam Kerr – is also among the players with the highest initial rating, so it is no surprise to see EA Sports believe the 23-year-old could be even better with the right opportunities to progress.

Haaland’s initial 88 score made the Norwegian one of the highest rated players across the game already, but there is the potential to add an additional six points to this through the Career Mode, which EA says will offer more freedom to gameplay and customisation.

German attacking midfielder Wirtz begins as an 82 in the FIFA Career Mode, after becoming the youngest player to reach 50 Bundesliga appearances last December.

His potential to gain nine points to the peak of his career will make the 19-year-old a valuable threat for FIFA players with long-term ambitions.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz could become a decent asset for long-term FIFA 23 players

Foden is currently on a rating of 85, one behind Vinicius Jr, and three behind Donnarumma, but if they all grow to the peak of their in-game powers, they would all become 92 rated players.

The game is also to include HyperMotion2 animation, kinetic goalkeeper vs header battles, and other gameplay features.

While the initial list of the 23 top players did not include Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr or Italian keeper Donnarumma, it is clear that persistent gameplay will make them among some of the best assets in the FIFA universe.

FIFA 23 is released worldwide on September 30 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One.

Barcelona’s Pedri has the potential to be improved from an 85 rating to a 93 in Career Mode
