- Real Madrid have made a £137m bid for Kylian Mbappe, but PSG have rejected it
- French giants are however considering selling Mbappe if Madrid raise it by £34m
- The 22-year-old striker rejected a new contract this week and is keen to join Real
- PSG have already earmarked Cristiano Ronaldo and Richarlison as replacements
- There is however question marks over whether Madrid can afford the £171m fee
Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly consider sanctioning Kylian Mbappe’s sensational transfer to Real Madrid if the Spanish giants up their offer to an eye-watering £171million.
The LaLiga giants have been courting Mbappe for years and finally submitted their opening gambit for the French superstar on Monday, offering PSG £137m for their prized asset.
PSG chiefs were said to be left stunned by the magnitude of the offer – which outlined just how serious Madrid’s intentions are of landing Mbappe this summer – and are now refusing to rule out the prospect of him leaving before the window shuts next week.
Kylian Mbappe could join Real Madrid this summer if they can increase their first bid by £34m
According to L’Equipe, as per AS, PSG have already rejected Madrid’s first offer but could be persuaded to part with star man Mbappe if the Spanish side increase it by another £34m.
PSG had been desperate to secure the long-term future of Mbappe, whose contract expires at the end of the season, but the 22-year-old has reiterated he has no interest in renewing his deal after turning down their latest and third offer earlier this week.
Reports in France claim PSG still believe they can convince the World Cup winner to stay despite the player privately hoping that an agreement for him to join Madrid can be reached.

Florentino Perez is trying to get a marquee signing at Real despite financial issues at the club – and there are doubts over whether they can afford £171m despite raising £72m in player sales
PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino had been dreaming of unleashing a dream attack of Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi this season, but the club are now drawing up contingency plans in the event Madrid meet their demands, which could pave the way for Cristiano Ronaldo to join them from Juventus.
Where would Mbappe’s potential £171m move rank in the biggest transfers of all time?
1. Neymar: £198m – Joined PSG from Barcelona
2. Kylian Mbappe: £171m – Potential fee to join Real Madrid from PSG
3. Mbappe: £166m – Joined PSG from Monaco
4. Philippe Coutinho: £145m – Joined Barcelona from Liverpool
5. Joao Felix: £114m – Joined Atletico Madrid from Benfica
6. Antoine Griezmann: £108m – Joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid
7. Jack Grealish: £100m – Joined Manchester City from Aston Villa
That is however by no means a formality as question marks remain over whether or not Madrid’s financial position would allow them to significantly raise their initial offer after €300m (£257m) was wiped off the club’s revenue by the coronavirus pandemic.
The squad accepted a 15 per cent wage cut last season and several players this term have already negotiated new contracts that will enable the club to pay them over a longer period of time.
Madrid president Florentino Perez’s fronting up of the doomed European Super League project was seen as an indication of the club’s desperate financial state. He declared that football would be dead by 2023 if the Super League was not permitted.
Madrid made no signings last summer and have so far signed only David Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, while selling Martin Odegaard to Arsenal and Raphael Varane to Manchester United for a combined fee of £72m.
PSG, meanwhile, have already been offered Ronaldo as a replacement and have also been urged by Neymar to consider his international team-mate, the Everton striker Richarlison, as Mbappe’s replacement.
On Tuesday night, headlines in the French media said Madrid’s offer had caused an ‘earthquake’ in Paris and could shake the transfer market to its foundations. Now, the footballing world waits with eager eyes to see if Madrid can pull off one of the most significant deals in recent memory.
