Paris Saint-Germain chief Leonardo has voiced his frustration over Argentina’s decision to call up Lionel Messi despite his recent injury problems.

The 34-year-old has missed his side’s last two games due to ‘knee and hamstring pains’.

Messi is his country’s captain and will join up with the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Uruguay.

Paris Saint-Germain are not pleased about Argentina’s decision to call up Lionel Messi

He has a clause in his contract which states he will prioritse international games over club and Leonardo is clearly irritated by the situation.

‘We do not agree to let a player go by selection who, for us, is not in physical condition or who is in the rehabilitation phase,’ the Parc des Princes supremo told Le Parisien .

‘It is not logical, and these types of situations deserve a real agreement with FIFA.’

Messi has had a frustrating start to his career in Paris, featuring in just eight games in all competitions.

PSG sit top of the league table with 31 points from 12 games, eight points ahead of second-placed Nice.
